Handmade Roman blind in Clarke & Clarke Quetzal Velvet Charcoal. A bold velvet with exotic birds, luxe texture, blackout lining & deluxe chain headrail.

Clarke & Clarke Quetzal Velvet Charcoal Roman Blind

This week in the Green Bee Interiors workroom, I had the pleasure of making a Roman blind using one of Clarke & Clarke’s most dramatic statement fabrics — Quetzal Velvet in Charcoal.

Quetzal Velvet is a sumptuous printed velvet showcasing exotic birds and intricate botanicals set against a deep charcoal background. The rich pattern and luxurious texture make it a true showpiece fabric, perfect for anyone wanting to add a sense of drama and elegance to their home.

For this project, I handmade the blind using my traditional method, ensuring no visible stitching on the face of the fabric. It was mounted on a deluxe chain-operated headrail and finished with a blackout lining, giving the blind both structure and practicality by protecting the fabric’s bold design from sunlight.

The end result is a blind that not only provides excellent light control, but also transforms the window into a focal point — balancing functionality with artistry. The velvet catches the light beautifully and brings out the jewel-like details in the pattern, while the dark ground gives a sophisticated depth.

If you’d like to bring this look into your own home, you can find the Clarke & Clarke Quetzal Velvet collection in a range of striking colourways. I’d be delighted to create a made-to-measure Roman blind using this fabric, or help you explore other designs to suit your space.
